About Chemshift Technologies:
Chemshift Technologies Inc. (“Chemshift”) is an Alberta-based cleantech business striving to transform the North American lithium supply chain through the development of innovative lithium refining technology. Chemshift has developed technology to convert crude lithium materials into battery-grade lithium products and is currently undergoing efforts to commercialize this technology.
The opportunity:
Chemshift is seeking a Process Engineer to help lead the development and scale-up of its lithium refining technology. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for leading the process design, documentation, and execution of Chemshift’s first lithium refining Pilot Plant from conceptual engineering (FEL-2) through to commissioning and operation. This role will require a strong communication, leadership, and project management skillset, coupled with a need for intimate knowledge of chemical processing technologies.
You would be a great fit if you:
· Possess a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGA)
· Possess a multidisciplinary skillset, and are not afraid to dive head-first into new challenges
· Have previous experience leading an engineering team
· Have 5+ years of experience leading the design, build, and commissioning of chemical process technologies from conceptual engineering through to commissioning and start-up
· Are proficient with 2D CAD software (AutoCAD), and are experienced in the creation and interpretation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Heat and Material Balances (H&MBs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and associated engineering documentation
· Have a working knowledge of relevant process design regulations, codes, and standards
· Have experience sizing and selecting equipment for critical process functions (lines, vessels, pumps, motors, valves, etc.)
· Are passionate about technology development, and possess a relentless problem-solving attitude and a bias for action
· Can take on difficult, time-constrained goals, break them down into specific and measurable deliverables, and independently do what is necessary to achieve them
· Seek responsibility, are creative, thrive working autonomously, and can tell a good joke
· Have experience in a fast-paced or startup environment (bonus)
What we offer:
· A dynamic, high-growth environment with opportunities for expedited professional development
· Meaningful equity in a rapidly growing venture-backed company
· Close collaboration with a team passionate about clean technology and innovation
· A chance to lead impactful projects from start to finish, with direct ownership of outcomes that shape company direction
In your Cover Letter, please include a brief description of something you have built, or a project you have contributed to, that you feel best exemplifies your ability to lead an engineering project from start to finish. Specifically, if you can refer to a project in the chemical process space that you executed from FEL-2 to commissioning and operations that followed standard AACE technical and project data deliverables that would be excellent.
